10 11 NOV. 2025 NEWSLETTER THE FORT WORTH STOCK SHOW & RODEO Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo January 16 - February 7, 2026 www.fwssr.com The aroma of smoked meats filled the Will Rogers Memorial Center on November 7–8 as 32 high school BBQ teams from across Texas fired up their smokers for the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo High School BBQ Regional Competition. Teams competed not just for prizes, but to develop leadership, culinary and teamwork skills. Teams were judged in five categories: dessert, beans, chicken, ribs and brisket. This year, the competition awarded $10,500 in premiums to the top teams, while the Pitmaster Scholarship Challenge provided an additional $18,000 in scholarships to high school juniors and seniors. Students first completed a 50-question online exam, with the top 10 advancing to in-person presentations held Friday, November 7, giving them the chance to take their BBQ knowledge beyond the smoker and into future culinary and agricultural pursuits.
