8 9 www.fwssr.com TALENT ON DISPLAY The FWSSR Youth Art Contest gives students the opportunity to interpret the culture, character and history of agriculture in their own creative voice. This year 1,806 student artists showcased their creativity in the contest setting new records for the most amount of entries in the 12–14 age division, the High School Division, and the 3-D category. Each piece represents hours of imagination, skill, and hard work, reflecting the passion of young artists across Texas. Entries from youth ages five to 19 ranged from colored pencil drawings to mixed media. Winning pieces will be showcased in the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall during the Stock Show’s 23day run, with the remaining artworks displayed at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. First-place entries from each age division are put up for sale alongside professional artists during the Cowboy Artists of America Exhibition & Sale providing exposure to an audience of serious and sophisticated art buyers. For these young artists, it is a great opportunity to experience their work being displayed in a professional gallery setting.
