Headquartered today in Claremore, Oklahoma, the A Bar Ranch is a multifaceted cow-calf ranching operation spanning six Oklahoma counties and two Texas counties. The ranch maintains a herd of 4,000 cows and breeds more than 1,000 replacement heifers each year. The ranch markets more than 6,000 head of replacement females annually through both private treaty and three production sales held at the ranch through its livestock marketing business. The Panther Creek division in Claremore, Oklahoma, is headquarters to the ranch’s equine operation. Mike and Martha began the breeding program in 1985 out of necessity as their ranching business grew. The ranch’s demand for a quality ranch horse remains today and continues to evolve. In 2020, the ranch was bestowed the American Quarter Horse Association’s “Best of the Remuda” award. The breeding operation consists of 80 broodmares focused on strong mare families with cow sense, conformation, athleticism and trainability. The majority of mares are naturally serviced to A Bar Ranch sires consisting of sons of Metallic Cat, Woody Be Tuff, Boonlight Dancer, Tanquery Gin and Dual Rey. The ranch also hosts its annual Remuda and Colt Sale each fall along with its $40,000 A Bar Ranch Horse Futurity.
